Charges have been laid against two men following two separate gun related incidents in Kingston and St. Catherine, in late January and February.

Charged are 28-year-old Gavin Davidson otherwise called ‘Breads’, of Third Street,  Kingston 12 and 48-year-old Kevin Bent otherwise called ‘Kevin square’, a businessman of East Bay Drive, Old Harbour in St. Catherine.

Davidson was charged with murder and breaches of the Firearms Act following the shooting death of 24-year-old Mark French on Third Street, Kingston 12 on Wednesday, January 31.

Reports from the Denham Town Police are that about 10:00p.m French was in the community, when he was pounced upon by gunmen who opened fire hitting him multiple times, before escaping.

The police were summoned and French was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following investigations, Davidson was arrested on February 29.

An identification parade was conducted and he was charged last Friday March 1, with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition and making use of a firearm.

Davidson’s court date is being finalized.

Meanwhile, Bent was charged after a firearm was seized on Darlington Drive in St. Catherine, on Friday.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m. lawmen conducting a vehicular check point operation in the area, intercepted a Honda CRV motor vehicle with Bent aboard. 

The vehicle was searched and a Girsan 9 millimeter pistol with a magazine containing ten 9 millimeter cartridges was reportedly found on the front passenger seat.

Bent was arrested and later charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition. 

His court date is being arranged.
