The Hanover police say tension between two rival factions in the Montpelier community has been posing a significant challenge for law enforcement since last year. 

According to the parish’s Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent Carl Brown, the conflict escalated with the murder of a man last Monday leading the police to anticipate reprisal. 

DSP Brown noted that last year, several persons were arrested from each faction. 

He was speaking during the recent monthly meeting of the Hanover Municipal Corporation. 

As of Thursday, Hanover recorded 13 homicides, with 10 of those murders committed in the Green Island community.
