No breakdown or interruptions in negotiations between JFF and Reggae Girls coaching staff

There has been no breakdown or interruptions in negotiations between the Jamaica Football Federation and the staff of the senior women’s national team, led by head Coach Lorne Donaldson. 

That’s the word from the JFF who sought to clear the air in a release  on the matter, where the organization stated that the discussions between both parties are not, or has ever been, interrupted by any of the parties involved.

The senior women’s national team the Reggae Girls, qualified for the 2023 world cup in late July and negotiations have been progressing well since August, and contrary to what was carried elsewhere Chairman of the Technical and Development Committee Rudloph Speid brushed aside the false news, stating on Irie Fm’s sports call in show on Monday that discussions between both parties have been fruitful.  

In the release the JFF added, “The discussions had to be guided by the JFF’s ability to fund any agreement with the regularity that is to be agreed. In addition to covering the costs of salaries for the Technical staff, we (the JFF) have to consider the cost of executing what is a well- planned strategy by the staff including games in all available Fifa windows “. 

It continued by stating, “The JFF is pleased to inform that the parties are well advanced in the negotiations. The JFF has identified one source of funding and has made the necessary application to Fifa for the same. This is the sum of US$960,000.00 available to all thirty-two qualified teams to be used exclusively for their world cup preparations.”

In the release the JFF also called on corporate Jamaica to support the reggae girls in this their second journey to the FIFA Women’s World Cup final. 

In conclusion the JFF says it is now concentrating on securing suitable practice matches so the  team can be properly prepared for the World Cup next year.
