Opposition renews call for expansion of PATH

Opposition spokesperson on Labour and Social Security, Dr. Angela Brown Burke, is renewing her call for the expansion of the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education, PATH.

Dr Brown Burke noted that the majority of the population cannot afford healthy food, and many parents are already finding it difficult to send their children to school.

She said additional provision should be made to cushion the crisis that families are facing.

She called on the ministries of finance and labour, to work together in tackling the issue.

Dr. Brown Burke indicated that she has sent a letter to her government counterpart, Karl Samuda, outlining recommendations for the expansion of the programme.

She added that tertiary students, particularly those studying social work, can be trained and engaged part-time, to visit PATH applicants.
