At least 7 killed across the island since yesterday afternoon

At least 7 people have been killed in separate incidents across the island since yesterday, afternoon.

The incidents occurred in Westmoreland, St. Catherine, St. James and Clarendon.

The deceased are 22-year-old Dorant Hurd otherwise called ‘Ratta’, of Ricketts Street, Savanna-la-mar, in Westmoreland, 32-year-old Fabian Stewart otherwise called ‘Fambo’, a labourer of Banister District, Old Harbour, St. Catherine, 38-year-old Shevan Gordon, a tiler of Marrs in Roehampton St. James, 42-year-old Kelvin Anderson, a truck driver of Grantham District Clarendon, Cecil Ricketts also of Grantham District and, 56 -year-old Delroy Facey, a farmer of Belmont District also in Clarendon.

Anderson, Ricketts and Facey were killed in the latest incident in Grantham, Frankfield Clarendon.

Reports are that at about 9:45 p.m., the men were at a shop operated by Ricketts, when they were pounced upon by gunmen who alighted from a motor car and opened fire hitting them several times.

The police were alerted and the three wounded men were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Minutes earlier in Roehampton St. James, Gordon was among two men killed, while another man was wounded.

Reports are that about 9:30 p.m., residents reportedly heard explosions and alerted the police.

On the cops’ arrival, Gordon and the unidentified man were seen lying in a shop with chop wounds to the head.

Another man was seen suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three were taken to hospital, where Gordon and the other chop victim were pronounced dead, while the man who had gunshot wounds was admitted for treatment.

About an hour earlier, Stewart was shot dead at a bar in Old Harbour St. Catherine.

Police reports are about 8:30 p.m., Stewart was at a bar when he was pounced upon by gunmen travelling in a Nissan Tiida motorcar, who shot him several times.

He was pronounced dead at hospital.

And over in Savanna-la mar, Westmoreland, Hurd was shot and killed by gunmen in his community.

Reports are that about 5:16 p.m., residents summoned the police after hearing explosions.

On the arrival of the lawmen, Hurd was seen lying on the roadway with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police are probing the incidents.

Over 500 people have been murdered in the country since the start of the year.

Meantime, the Clarendon Police are maintaining a strong presence in the Frankfield community, following last evening’s triple murder.

Head of the Clarendon Police division Superintendent Carlos Russell said investigators have not yet established a motive for the killing of the 3 men.
