Appeal for ‘Vybz Kartel’ and co-accused continues at the Privy Council

The Privy Council continues to hear arguments today (February 15) in the appeal hearing for entertainer Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer and his co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John.

The four were convicted of the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in 2014.

After efforts to overturn their convictions in 2018 were dismissed by the Court of Appeal in Jamaica, they brought the matter to the Privy Council.

The grounds of challenge being considered in the case include whether or not the trial judge, should have excluded the telecommunications evidence relied on by the prosecution and how the judge should have handled allegations of attempts to bribe members of the jury during the trial.

The two-day hearing which began yesterday is being held in the United Kingdom.
