JUTC says illegal firearm discovered on bus in Walkerswood, St. Ann is not linked to company
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has sought to clarify media reports which indicate that an illegal firearm was discovered on a bus in Walkers Wood, St. Ann.
According to the JUTC in a release yesterday, the reports do not involve the company or any of its employees.
It said the incident is unrelated to JUTC operations and the individual referenced in the reports is not a JUTC driver.
Corporate Communications Manager Shantole Thompson said the clarification is necessary to prevent misinformation and protect public confidence in the company.
According to Ms. Thompson, the company recognises that the initial reports may have caused some confusion.
As a result, the company is assuring the public that this incident did not involve JUTC or any member of its team.
She encouraged commuters and stakeholders to verify information through official sources before drawing conclusions.
JUTC said it remains committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, security and professionalism and will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure a safe and reliable public transportation service for all Jamaicans.
