Electricity restored to over 200 thousand customers, just under 50% without supply
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says as of this morning, it restored supply to 206 thousand customers across several parishes.
Thousands of customers experienced outages during the passage of hurricane Melissa last week.
Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon, JPS President and Chief Executive Officer Hugh Grant said just under 50 per cent of customers remain without power.
He said 57 per cent of major hospitals now have power.
In the meantime, Mr. Grant said the JPS will be bringing an additional 100 line workers from overseas by the end of this week, to assist with the restoration works.
