IRIE FM marks its 35th anniversary with celebratory activities at Kaya in Drax Hall
IRIE FM is today marking 35 years on air as Jamaica’s number 1 reggae radio station.
Since its official launch on August 1, 1990, IRIE FM has become a staple in Jamaican media, pioneering all-reggae programming and amplifying the voices of the people through music, culture and commentary, while keeping its listeners updated with news, sports and entertainment.
IRIE, which is the acronym for ‘Innovative Radio Inspiring Everyone’, has been the leading radio station in Jamaica for years.
Widely recognized as “the people’s station”, IRIE FM continues to lead in culturally conscious broadcasting.
According to the 2023 media survey, IRIE FM remains the number one choice for reggae and community- focused broadcasting.
This 35th anniversary is a reflection of the station’s deep roots in Jamaican life, and its ongoing mission to preserve and promote Jamaican music, identity and freedom of expression.
Celebrations will take place today up until midnight, at Kaya Drax Hall, St. Ann.
