Opposition renews call for fixed election dates
By Marlene Freeman
Opposition Senator Donna Scott-Mottley has renewed the call for fixed election dates.
She was speaking at a virtual townhall hosted by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) yesterday.
According to the Senator this was promised by Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness in 2016.
She said without the fixed dates, there is a level of political uncertainty, which is not good for the country.
She said this political uncertainty makes political violence more likely.
She also referred to a poll conducted in 2023, which indicated that Jamaicans want fixed elections.
