Nurses across the island to stage sensitization sessions today against violence against women and girls
Nurses across the island will be staging what is being dubbed as sensitization sessions today as they denounce violence against women and girls.
Members of the Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) will be supported by colleagues from the Jamaica Enrolled Nurses Association and the Jamaica Midwives Association.
The action follows the physical assault of a colleague in St. Andrew last Tuesday. The female nurse was seen in a video being beaten, wrestled to the ground and stomped on by a man armed with a gun.
65-year-old businessman Robert Bell of St. Andrew is facing five charges in relation to what is being referred to as a road rage incident.
President of the NAJ, Dawn Marie Richards, says for the Corporate Area, nurses will be converging at two locations – at the University Hospital of the West Indies and at Heroes Circle, starting at 10 am.
