Rastafarians in Jamaica join global support for Burkina Faso’s transitional President

Scores of Pan-Africanists took to the streets of Kingston and Montego Bay, St. James today to show their support for Burkina Faso’s transitional president captain Ibrahim Traore.

This followed an alleged coup attempt and comments by an American official criticizing the leader.

People across the globe, including Jamaica, united in support of Traore.

Today’s rally in the country was organised by the Rastafari Mansions and Organisations.

Supporters bearing placards and beating drums gathered at the Emancipation Park this morning, before making their journey to the Haile Selassie high school.

They also gathered in the vicinity of the US embassy in Liguanea.

One of the supporters read a section of the letter addressed to representatives of the USA and French embassies.

Meantime, Rastafari high priest Wesley Kelly was among supporters gathered in Montego Bay.

He noted the importance of the liberation of black Africa and praised the work of Burkina Faso’s President.
