Police urge shoppers to be vigilant with cash and valuable items
The police are advising persons to be extra vigilant as they go about shopping during the yuletide season, with their handling of cash and exposure of valuable items.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Karina Powell-Hood said while people are out at various places to make special arrangements for their families persons of ill intent use this period for robberies and injuring members of the vulnerable community.
Adding that at times persons are oblivious to what is happening around them while they do business and also distracted by their cellular phones, DCP Powell Hood said people should invest in ear pieces.
She said persons should avoid exposing high end smart phones as they can be grabbed by thieves.
DCP Powell Hood underscored that persons should walk in groups, for added security.
She also advised that persons who consume alcohol should avoid drinking to the point where they are impaired and risk contributing to road crashes.
