A manhunt is underway for a prisoner who escaped custody from the holding area of the St. Mary parish court, this morning.

He is 31 year old Oshane Scott, otherwise known as Chin-Chin of Manchester Lane, Cox Street, in Port Maria.

Police say Scott was scheduled to appear before the Port Maria Circuit Court to face charges of attempted rape, larceny, assault at common law and unlawful wounding.

Reports are that at about 9:05 a.m., Scott was being escorted by a police corporal from the restroom back to the holding area.

During the escort, he reportedly assaulted the officer and managed to escape through the main gate, onto Warner Street.

Despite immediate pursuit by officers, Scott evaded capture and remains at large.

Scott, who has been in custody since February 21, is also wanted in connection with a threat warrant.

He is known to have a small tattoo on the right side of his neck.
