Two athletes suspended from Paris Olympic Games

The Anti-Doping division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS Adoc Division) has confirmed the suspension of the two athletes who were previously disqualified for the anti-doping rule violation.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) had announced on July 26, that Iraqi Judoka Sajjad Ghanim Sehen returned an adverse analytical finding for anabolic Androgenic Steroids during an out-of-competition test on July 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, on July 27, the ita reported that the sample collected from the Nigerian boxer Cynthia Temtayo Ogunsemilore returned an adverse analytical finding for the specified prohibited substance Furosemide.”

Both athletes have requested a provisional hearing. 

On July 26, the NOC Iraq confirmed to the ita that the athlete requested a provisional hearing to challenge the provisional suspension. 

On the night of July 28 CAS handled the two Olympic cases in Paris and confirmed the provisional suspensions of the two athletes.

Sehen was going to compete at the Men’s 81 kg division. 

Ogunsemilore was registered to participate in the Women’s -60 kg category.
