Jolyan Silvera to know if bail application granted on May 14
Former People’s National Party Member of Parliament for Western St Mary Jolyan Silvera, who is charged with the murder of his wife will know on May 14, if he will be granted bail.
Justice Vinette Graham Allen will make the ruling.
The bail application was made on Thursday by king’s counsel Peter Champagnie and attorney- at-law Patrice Riley, in court.
Newly appointed acting Director of Public Prosecutions Claudette Thompson represented the crown.
Melissa Silvera, the wife of the accused, was found dead in the couple’s home in Stony Hill, St Andrew, on November 10, 2023.
It was first reported that the 42-year- old woman died of natural causes, in her sleep.
However, an autopsy performed three weeks after her death, revealed the presence of bullet fragments in her body.
The police then commenced a murder investigation.
Mr Silvera was arrested and charged with murder.
