Increase in road fatalities in St Ann
The St. Ann Police are reporting an increase in road fatalities so far this year in comparison to the corresponding period last year.
Head of the division Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell says 12 people have lost their lives in crashes since January.
He said this is in comparison to the 7 deaths from 7 collisions in the corresponding period last year.
SSP Powell called on motorists to be vigilant while traversing the roadways noting that the life they save might be their own.
He said the thoroughfare from Mammee Bay to Discovery Bay is a crash hotspot.
SSP Powell told motorists that they should be cautious, especially on that roadway.
His appeal follows the fatal crash in Fern Gully in the parish on Sunday.
Suzette Thomas of Wildman Street in Kingston died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Several others including children were admitted in critical condition.
