Oracabessa fishermen hope they will receive assistance following strong winds and flooding
Fishermen at the Oracabessa Beach in St Mary are hoping they will receive assistance from the authorities to restore their livelihood.
Strong winds and coastal flooding associated with a cold front impacted the country’s north coast yesterday leaving a trail of damage.
At least one boat sank, another is partially submerged, some others are buried under sand, while a few more had been moved to safety.
People have been visiting the beach since Tuesday to see the damage left behind.
One fisherman told Irie Fm News, it’s the first time he has had such an experience.
Another fisherman said he lost fish pots.
The two are hopeful that assistance will be provided.
