UTECH lecturers reject latest compensation offer from government

The Academic Staff at the University of Technology (UTECH) has rejected the latest compensation proposal made by government.

The rejection follows meetings with the Finance Ministry and UTECH’s management, after lecturers took industrial action earlier this month, over the delays in settling the compensation review proposal.

Several students were impacted as the lecturers withheld their grades.

Providing an update on the matter this morning, president of the University of Technology’s Academic Staff Union (UTASU) Dr. Clavery Allen, noted that the union received the salary scales from the university as was agreed with the Ministry of Finance and management at their last meeting.

He added that the UTASU will be meeting with members today to decide on the way forward.
