Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke says the Government will be seeking to introduce unemployment insurance for working-class Jamaicans, in short order.

He made the statement at the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP’s) 80th Annual Conference which was held at the National Arena in Kingston yesterday.

Dr Clarke said the programme will provide temporary income support for the unemployed under the insurance scheme.

Dr. Clarke did not give a date for when the programme will be implemented.
