Transport group highlights need to address culture of police bribery, as one method of reducing road fatalities
Amidst continued concern over the number of people being killed on the nation’s roadways, one transport group has highlighted the need to address the culture of police bribery.
President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, Egeton Newman explains that the issue is two-fold and must take into account both motorists and cops.
Mr Newman argues that the bribery culture enables poor road safety habits, which in turn, results in road crashes and fatalities.
He argues further that if road safety is to be taken seriously by citizens, those expected to enforce the law must not be allowed to be enablers of poor road practices.
