Danielle Rowe funeral service takes place, tension among attendees
The funeral service for 8 year old Danielle Rowe, who was murdered last month, is underway.
The service is being held at the Portmore Seventh Day Adventist Church, in St. Catherine.
Scores of people, including government officials, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and Danielle’s schoolmates, have turned out for the funeral.
A number of the attendees are clad in blue which was the girl’s favourite colour.
There were reports of tension among some people attending the funeral, this resulted in a number of them including relatives walking out of the service.
Danielle was abducted from her school in Portmore and later found in St. Andrew with her throat slashed.
She was taken to hospital and underwent surgery but later succumbed.
The police have not had much success in finding those responsible for the child’s death.
On Saturday, placard-bearing family members dressed in white clothing smeared with red paint, marched along the roadway on which Danielle was found.
They appealed to the killer, to confess to the crime.
