BOMB THREAT UPDATE: JCF reminds citizens that creating public mischief is serious and prosecutable offence
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is reminding citizens that creating public mischief is a serious offence and perpetrators can be prosecuted.
This followed the sharing of a video on several social media platforms yesterday (June 4) where an individual claimed a bomb was planted at a service station in Ocho Rios, St. Ann. The individual also demanded $20 million or he would detonate the bomb.
The incident led to disruptions for businesses and motorists as the JCF Bomb Squad, the Jamaica Defence Force and the Jamaica Fire Brigade responded, combing the area for several hours in search of any threat.
Nothing was found.
Speaking on the incident, Head of the St. Ann police, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell urged citizens to act responsibly.
Anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigations is asked to call the Ocho Rios police at 876-974-2533, crime stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
