Opposition says team which assessed Canadian Farm Work Programme must provide more information about its findings
Opposition Spokesperson on Labour Dr. Angela Brown-Burke says the fact-finding team, which assessed the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Programme in Canada, must provide more information about its findings.
The team led by President of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions, Helene Davis Whyte was appointed last year, following reports of mistreatment and poor working conditions by some farm workers.
Noting a recent report by the team, which stated that the majority of the workers said they were being treated well, Dr. Brown Burke says more details on the findings must be presented.
She says several farm workers have claimed that the reports of mistreatment are valid.
