Jean Ann Panton again denied bail
The main suspect in the multi-million dollar fraud at Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), Jean Ann Panton, was again denied bail when she appeared in the Home Circuit Court, today.
Justice Vinette Graham Allen, in denying the bail application, ordered that Ms. Panton be assigned a nursing aid, during her incarceration.
Defense lawyer, Sylvester Hemmings, in making the bail application, argued that Panton’s health condition had worsened during her time of incarceration.
The attorney said she had a stroke and two seizures.
However, doctors attached to the Department of Correctional Services, testified that there was no evidence to corroborate those claims.
The judge therefore denied Ms. Panton’s bail application.
This is the second bail application to be denied for Ms. Panton, after a judge refused an earlier application in February.
Ms. Panton is to appear for a case management hearing in June.
