The unwillingness of persons to serve on school boards continues to be a concern for the Education Ministry.

There have been questions about the manner in which persons are appointed to school boards and that some persons on boards are politically connected.

When asked what the Education Ministry is doing to change the situation, Education Minister, Fayval Williams indicated that it is a challenge to get persons to serve on the boards.

Meantime, Mrs Williams said the Government will continue to modernize the way persons are appointed to school boards.

Mrs Williams was speaking at a post-Cabinet press briefing yesterday (October 26).
