Teen boy mistakenly shot dead by father in St. Catherine, this morning
A 15-year-old boy was shot dead by his father who reportedly mistook him for an intruder, in Hellshire St. Catherine, early this morning (September 28).
The teen has been identified as Raheem Shaw, a student of the Wolmer‘s Boy’s School.
It’s reported that around 3:13 am, the man who is a licensed firearm holder, was awakened by his wife, who told him that an intruder was in the house.
Head of the St. Catherine South Police, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips said the father went to check and fired several shots.
Noting that the father and son had a good relationship, SSP Phillips said the family has been plunged into mourning.
And, students and staff at the Wolmers Boy’s school in Kingston have been plunged into mourning, following the death of 15-year-old student Raheem Shaw, this morning.
The 5th former was fatally shot by his father around 3 am, after he was mistaken for an intruder .
When Irie FM News contacted the school, students and teachers were reportedly locked in a lengthy general assembly due to the tragic killing.
Principal Dwight Pennycooke was said to be offering words of encouragement to the students.
Raheem has been described as an outstanding student.
