Sunshine Girl Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard scores career 8000th National League Goal in Australia

Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard has achieved another milestone by scoring her 8000th national league goal.

She rewrote the record books after another dominant outing where she tallied a game-high 50 goals from 50 attempts to lead former champions West Coast Fever to a 69-62 win over the Melbourne Mavericks in round 3 of the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.

Fowler-Nembhard who entered the game on 7958, brought up career goal number 8000 with her 42nd shot for the evening before scoring another 8 to end the contest with 8008.

Also featuring prominently for the Perth-based team was goal-attack Shanice Beckford who made 10 of her 11 attempts including 4 of 5 Super Shots while amassing 15 goal-assists and 17 feeds while defender Kadie-Ann Dehaney had 2 intercepts and 5 gains.

Nelson-Jok, who was making her debut for the Mavericks, finished with a team-high 27 goals from 29 shots and In a surprising move transitioned from GS to GK, aiming to contain Fowler-Nembhard. Her immediate impact was evident, However Beckford’s precision with another Super Shot quickly countered as the Fever surged ahead to lead 40-31, setting the stage for an enthralling second half.

On the defensive end, reigning MVP Shamera Sterling-Humphrey compiled 8 gains, 4 rebounds and an intercept while Latanya Wilson had 3 intercepts and 4 gains.

The Thunderbirds with the result moved to third on 8 points having recorded 2 wins and a loss.
