The National Works Agency (NWA), will commence road works this week, in St. Elizabeth, Manchester and Clarendon.
The works valued at just over 202 million dollars, form part of the Go Road Rehabilitation Programme and will target 10 roads across the three parishes.
Communication Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that with contractors having satisfied the key requirement of providing insurance coverage, work is now set to begin.
In St. Elizabeth, motorists can expect improvements, along the Gutters to Tomb Stone and Pedro Cross to Southfield roads.
These works are being carried out under a 35 million dollar contract.
In Manchester, 45 million dollars will be spent to rehabilitate the main roads from Williamsfield to Greenvale, Greenvale to Spur Tree and Spur Tree to Gutters.
Meanwhile, in Clarendon approximately 122 million dollars will be spent on road improvement works during this phase of the programme.
Roads to be targeted include those in Portland Cottage, the stretch from Chapelton to Colonel’s Ridge, the road from Summerfield to Thompson and sections of the roadway from Trout Hall to Cave Valley.
Additional works are slated for Whitney Turn to Four Paths, the Bustamante Highway, Salt River Road and Rastaman Corner.
Hazard Drive and the roadway from Four Paths to Guinep Tree are also expected to benefit.
Meantime, Mr. Shaw says the agency is undertaking additional road-marking works, in three parishes, with similar works set to begin in a fourth.
He says the agency is continuing efforts to make roadways safer for users.
The works, valued at nearly 100 million dollars, include the remarking of edge and centre lines, as well as the installation of raised pavement markers.
These works are underway in St. Catherine, St. Mary, St. Ann and Portland.
