NSWMA launches debris management unit post hurricane Melissa 

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) has launched a debris management unit to rid the country of high volumes of debris following hurricane Melissa.  

Executive Director of the NSWMA, Audley Gordon made the announcement at a press briefing yesterday, at the NSWMA’s head office.

He outlined that the entity had a major challenge managing the usual domestic garbage collection and collecting debris from across the island. 

He stated that the debris management unit, though temporary, is of significant importance. 

Mr. Gordon noted that ten new trucks have been allocated for operations concerning debris collection.
