The Health Ministry has made public the findings of investigations into three deaths which occurred at public hospitals recently.

The deceased are councillor for the Morant Bay Division in St. Thomas Rohan Bryan, Gloria Parris and newborn Leonardo Blackstock.

The incidents took place at the Princess Margaret Hospital in St. Thomas, Falmouth Hospital in Trelawny and May Pen Hospital in Clarendon, respectively.

Following concerns raised about the incidents, Prime Minister Andrew Holness instructed the Health Ministry to conduct the necessary investigations and present the results to Cabinet on Monday.

Speaking during this morning’s post Cabinet press briefing, Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton detailed the findings.

He said in the case of councillor Bryan who died on April 30, further investigations will be conducted to determine if negligence on the part of hospital staff contributed to his death.

Regarding Ms. Parris’ death, Dr. Tufton said the management of the patient who suffered a stroke was appropriate.

Meantime, the ministry said efforts were made to save baby Leonardo who died from respiratory issues at the May Pen hospital.
