Armed robbers made off with an undetermined sum of cash after they held up a remittance outlet at the Portmore Mall, in St. Catherine, on Monday morning.
Reports are that some time after 11 a.m., two masked men entered the business establishment.
They allegedly pulled firearms, pointed them at the tellers and demanded cash.
The tellers complied, handing over the money.
A security guard on duty reportedly challenged the gunmen, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
The gunmen then escaped in a waiting motor car, which has since been recovered by the police.
Irie Fm News understands that the recovered vehicle had blood stains.
Officers have therefore theorized that at least one of the gunmen was wounded in the incident.
