Harold Thomas set to steer Mount Pleasant as “Tappa” and technical staff axed.

Director of Football at Mount Pleasant Academy Harold Thomas will be the new head coach of beaten finalist in the 2023-2024 Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League Mount Pleasant.

Thomas is to take over following the exit of coach Theodore “Tappa” Whitmore and his technical staff who have been informed that their contracts will not be renewed when they expire next month.

Thomas who has been at the Mount Pleasant Academy for the last two years worked, in the local top flight league before at Dunbeholden, Harbour View, Rivoli and Benfica.

His ascension is part of the new direction of the St Ann based club.

In the meantime, Whitmore and his technical staff which included assistant coach DavIon Ferguson and goalkeeper coach Warren Barrett, guided Mount Pleasant to a first Jamaica Premier League title last season, and after topping the league this season were beaten in the final by Cavalier.

The top two placing in the Jamaica Premier League qualifies Mount Pleasant for the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean cup tournament which starts in August.

The club has also parted company with a number of players including Captain Ladale Ritchie.
