A woman is dead and several other persons including children are injured, following a motor vehicle crash on the Fern Gully Main Road, in St Ann on Sunday morning.
The name of the deceased has not been released.
Police report that minutes to midday a 15 seater motor vehicle with 23 persons aboard crashed into an embankment.
The police were called to the scene and the injured persons were taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital where the woman succumbed and the others admitted.
Its understood that six persons are in serious condition.
Irie Fm News understands that 16 children and 7 adults were travelling in the vehicle.
Lawmen say two children and one adult are being transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies for treatment.
Its reported that the passengers were travelling from Kingston and were heading to St Mary on a funday when the crash occurred.
In the meantime, the police are urging motorists to obey the road code and to desist from speeding.
