The trial of Omar Collymore, who was charged six years ago for the contract style killing of his wife, 32-year-old Simone Campbell-Collymore, began today (February 12).
The trial got underway in the Home Circuit Court.
The businessman is being tried along with co accused Michael Adams, Dewayne Pink and Shaquille Edwards.
They are also facing trial for the murder of 36-year-old taxi driver Winston Watson.
The taxi driver was transporting Campbell-Collymore home on January 2, 2018, when they were both shot and killed at the gate of Campbell-Collymore’s St. Andrew apartment.
Another accused Carey Jonas is to be tried separately for conspiracy to murder.
The crown is leading evidence that two motorcycles approached, and the pillion passengers fired shots into the taxi.
One of the shooters Wade Blackwood pleaded guilty and was sentenced in March 2021 to two life sentences and ordered to serve 35 years in prison before he’s eligible for parole.
