Thirteen civil society organizations and 16 advocates have called on parliamentarians, to fast- track legislative reforms to address the high levels of sexual and domestic violence in the country.
The desired reforms would address the Childcare and Protection, Sexual Offences, Offences Against the Person and the Domestic Violence acts.
Executive director of Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ), Mickel Jackson, said the alarming number of sexual and domestic violence incidents is a matter of serious concern.
Ms. Jackson pointed out several issues within the Domestic Violence Act, noting they need to be addressed urgently.
