General Secretary of the Jamaica Police Federation Corporal Arlene McBean has described the interdiction of Chairman Rohan James as ”an assault on freedom of speech”.
Corporal James’ interdiction followed comments he made, while speaking at the funeral service, for the late constable Damien Blair, on July 15.
He was critical of the high command in relation to payment for overtime work.
Responding to the interdiction at a colleague’s funeral service on Sunday, Corporal McBean said the interdiction does not only impact the chairman but other members of the constabulary.
Corporal McBean said the federation will not be daunted in its fight for better conditions for its members.
