If all goes according to plan, the government is looking to spend one trillion dollars, in the next fiscal year (2023/2024).

 

Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke told parliament today that this trillion dollar budget is the first in Jamaica’s history.

 

 

He said the 2023/2024 expenditure includes funding to cover the public sector restructured compensation system and the Independent Fiscal Commission.

 

 

Dr. Clarke said public debt will end the fiscal year, at pre-Finsac levels.

 

 

He added that fiscal balance surplus is expected to be $9.9 b.
