The number of people murdered in the country this year, has declined, compared to 2022.

According to the latest crime data from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, 61 people have been killed up to Sunday January 22, which is 55 fewer than the 1 hundred and 16 murders, recorded in the corresponding period in 2022.

St. James, St. Andrew South and Clarendon recorded the highest number of murders with 7 each.

All divisions except, St. Andrew Central, Trelawny, and Portland have recorded murders, so far this year.

Meantime, there were also declines in cases of rape and robberies.

Rape declined by 23 from 37 to 14, while robberies went down by 31 from 69 to 38.

However, break-ins increased by 3 from 44 to 47.
