10 people killed in crashes since the start of April

Ten people have been killed in road crashes since the start of April.

Four of the fatalities resulted from separate incidents in St. Ann and Westmoreland, Wednesday.

3 people died in a four-vehicle collision along the Dunn’s River main road in St. Ann, and in Westmoreland, a motorcyclist died after the bike he was driving collided with a BMW motor car along the Cave Main Road.

Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones describes the situation as a major disaster.

He says while there are measures in place to reduce road crashes, more must be done.

Meantime, Dr. jones says he has sent a request to Prime Minister Andrew Holness for an urgent meeting on the matter.
