0ver 130 people have been fatally shot by members of the security forces since the start of the year.

According to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) 137 people died as a result of confrontations with members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force as at Friday December 8.

Six deaths have been recorded in December so far.

Among the latest incidents is the fatal shooting of Peter Tomlinson in Westmoreland on Thursday.

Reports are that 37-year-old Tomlinson of New Market Oval, Savanna-la-Mar, was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police on Red Road, Little London.

A Glock 9-millimeter Pistol with a magazine containing more than eight 9-millimeter rounds was allegedly found during the incident.

INDECOM and the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) are probing the incident.
