Sunshine Girls defender Shamera Sterling-Humphrey has been named Player of The Week for week one of the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.

It comes after her standout performance at the goal-keeper position where she compiled 10 gains and 6 intercepts to help lead defending champions Adelaide Thunderbirds to narrow and hard-fought 63-62 victory over the Queensland Firebirds at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

With her latest outing Sterling-Humphrey is the early leader in two statistical categories deflections (8) and intercepts (6).

She is also 5th in defensive rebounds (2) and third in Nissan Net Points (117.5) behind only Liz Watson of Sunshine Coast Lightning (122.5) and Jamaican compatriot Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard of the West Coast Fever who is out in front on 151.5.
