Jamaica Scorpions face uphill battle vs Harpy Eagles

Jamaica Scorpions are facing an uphill battle after two days of action in the West Indies Regional Four Day championship sixth round encounter against defending champions Guyana Harpy Eagles at Sabina Park.

Set a daunting 425 to secure first innings, the Scorpions limped to 153 for 9 at stumps to trail by 271 with a wicket in hand.

Romaine Morris (21) and Marquino Mindley (13) were the not out batsmen, with Brandon King who made 32 the highest scorer. Versammy Permaul led the Guyana bowlers bagging 5 – 55 with support coming from Isai Thorne who took 2 for 19.

Earlier the Harpy Eagles, resuming on their overnight 278 for 7, were dismissed for 424 led by Kemol Savory who made 155 and Tevin Imlach who was left unbeaten on 101.

Ojay Shields the top bowler for the Scorpions with 4 for 103.

At the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, Alick Athanaze topscored with 89 and Kavem Hodge contributed 41 as Windward Islands Volcanoes batting in their 2nd innings reached 165 for 7 for an overall lead of 169 against the West Indies Academy.

Scores in that game, the Volcanoes 162 and 165 for 7, the Academy team 158.

At the Queens Park Oval, Barbados Pride made an intimidating 542 for 9 declared with captain Kraigg Brathwaite (189), Roston Chase (127) and Zachary McCaskie (101) all scoring centuries, while Rahkeem Cornwall took 5 for 132.

Leeward Islands Hurricanes in response reached 97 for 1 at close of play with Keacy Carty not out on 64 and Mikyle Louis unbeaten 25 to return on day three.

Over at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, the Combined Campuses and Colleges were 109 for 5, responding to 591 for 7 declared made by Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

Amir Jangoo was in sublime form, hitting fifteen fours and ten sixes on his way to 218 while Jason Mohammed played a supporting role with 157, a knock that included 22 fours.
