Opposition Spokesman on Health, Dr. Morais Guy is calling for an investigation into the alleged escape of Jamaica’s first Monkeypox patient from a hospital on Saturday (July 9).

Reports from the Health Ministry are that the patient who has since been found, escaped through a window at the facility before boarding a motor car.

However, according to other reports in the public domain, the patient did not escape through a window, but told doctors that he was leaving the hospital after not receiving proof of his diagnosis which he requested.

Speaking with Irie Fm News this morning (July 11), Dr. Guy said the ministry must clarify what happened.

He said the matter is of public importance.

Dr. Guy said persons with whom the patient may have come in contact with after he left the hospital, should be monitored.
