Ziggy Marley and his sisters Sharon and Cedella have seemingly run to their mother’s defense, following a sentimental message shared by Cindy Breakspear recounting her time spent with their father, the late Reggae legend, Bob Marley.
On February 6, to mark Bob Marley’s 79th birthday, the former Miss Jamaica World (1976) and mother of Damian Marley, via her official Instagram account posted a series of photos of her and Bob, along with a young Damian Marley.
As a caption, she wrote, “Bob, on what would have been your 79th birthday, I celebrate the incredible impact you’ve had globally, cherish our amazing son Damian, and reminisce about the beautiful times we shared – From 56 Hope Road to your mother’s home in Delaware and Miami, New York, Oakly Street in London, The Bahamas, Trinidad, and beyond.”
She continued, “The memories are countless, but our love for you is endless. Happy Birthday to the people’s hero, loved and revered by all.”
Today (Feb 9), Bob’s first son, Ziggy Marley shared a black and white picture of his mom Rita Marley which he captioned, “When a woman tek a bullet in her head because she loves and stands with you and still show up days after to stand by your side again with no concern about her own safety, it does something to a man. It tells a man something he will never forget and forever cherish. Sharon Marley, in the comment section of her brother’s post, also fiercely defended her mother Rita. “No woman can walk in my mother’s shoes. She is a real Queen. That’s just facts. No hard feelings”, she wrote.
Cedella Marley weighed-in with a simple repost of her brother’s IG message. She also commented on a post her mother shared on IG of the I-Threes as Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman No Cry’ played background. “The one and only. Many were called but you were chosen. Go deh Mrs. Marley”, she wrote.
All this comes following speculations that Cindy Breakspeare did not make the final cut of the upcoming Bob Marley, One Love movie that will hit theaters on February 14.
