Labour Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. has revealed that the Government has begun to integrate persons with disabilities into the Overseas Employment Programme.

Mr. Charles Jr. made the disclosure while speaking at the University of the West Indies (U-W-I) Center for Disability Studies’ Sixth Regional Disability Studies Conference, yesterday.

He noted that his Ministry has been discussing how to transform the selection process for the Farm Work Programme and ensure that it is sustainable.

The Minister said the discussions also explored how persons with disabilities can be integrated into the programme.

The two day conference is being held under the theme “Employment Creation, the Path to Sustainable Development for Persons with Disabilities in the Caribbean”.
