World Champion Shericka Jackson headlines Jamaican cast for season ending Diamond League meeting
World champion Shericka Jackson will make a final attempt this season for the women’s 200 meters world record when she contest the event at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene , Oregon on Saturday the 2023 Diamond League final.
Jackson is listed to face Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas in the event and Marie Jose Ta-lou of the Ivory Coast, Daryll Neita of great Britain and Kayla white, Twanisha Terry and Jenna Prandini of the USA.
Jackson is among 8 Jamaicans who will be in action on the final day of the Diamond League final on Saturday.
World champion Dannielle Williams and Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper will contest the women’s 100 metre hurdles against world record holder Tobi Amusan of Nigeria and Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico.
Olympic champion Hansle Parchmet is down to run in the men’s 110 metre hurdles, Olympic finalist Natoya Goule is in the women’s 800 meters, Ruschell clayton and Janieve Russell are listed for the women’s 400 meter hurdles and Candice Mcleod is listed for the women’s 400 meters.
Shericka Jackson will also run on Friday in the women’s 100 meters alongside compatriot elaine Thompson-Herah
In the men’s 100 meters Yohan Blake, Ackeem Blake and Kishane Thompson will do battle, Rusheen McDonald will run in the men’s 400 meters, while Shanieka Rickets and Kimberley Williams will contest the women’s triple jump with national record holder Daniel Thomas- Dodd to contest the women’s shot put.
