Work underway at fire damaged St. Ann’s Bay Infant school, to ensure resumption of classes next week
Preparations are being made to get the St. Ann’s Bay Infant school in St. Ann ready for classes come next Monday when the new academic year begins.
A section of the institution was gutted by fire in June.
The cause of the fire has still not been determined.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, principal Debbie Morris said renovations are going well, but there is a challenge with bathroom facilities.
A ceremony was held at the institution, yesterday (August 30), during which funds raised by the Burning Spears Foundation and friends, were handed over to the school.
Morris said the over $800,000 donation, will go a far way.
Meanwhile, representative of the Burning Spear Foundation, Mytania Samuels, said the reggae entertainer, is a St. Ann native, and as such, he had to render assistance to the school.
