Westmoreland police report tense calm in Grange Hill community; cops heighten presence

The Westmoreland police say they have employed several strategies to deal with a recent surge of violence in the Grange Hill community.

The increase in violence resulted in classes being disrupted at several schools in the area last week, due to reports of threats by gunmen.

The Grange Hill Primary and High schools reverted to the online learning modality due to threats.

Providing an update to IRIE FM news, Zone 4 Commander for the Westmoreland police, Deputy Superintendent Shaunjaye Mitchell says a tense calm has settled over the community in the past days.

He says although the strategies implemented to keep residents safe appear to be working, the security forces will maintain a heightened presence in the area.
