Vendors and PPV operators call for unsanitary conditions at Ocho Rios transport centre to be addressed

Vendors and Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) operators staged a peaceful protest this morning, at the Ocho Rios transportation centre, in St. Ann.

Speaking with IRIE FM News this morning (January 24), they expressed their dissatisfaction with the overall state of the park despite paying fees weekly to utilize it.

Some of their grouses include garbage pile-up, poor bathroom facilities and the presence of homeless persons, who they say, have made the environment unsanitary for vendors to sell food.

One vendor said the park has been in a deplorable condition since last year.

Meanwhile, one taxi operator shared that the restrooms at the location have been out of service since Monday.

He described the situation as unbearable.

Attempts to reach the mayor for a comment on the situation proved futile.
